The Best Beach Reads of Summer 2019!

or Pool...

"I decided to share my favorite beach reads that you can simply throw in your straw bag and enjoy while getting your tan on and sipping on an ice-cold drink."

People don't read anymore? I call BS! People read all the time, probably more than before the internet and smartphones. All you have to do is go to the Barnes & Noble at the grove to see the foot traffic in there and you’ll be convinced people read more than ever. I’ve always loved books, they are truly my best friends. So, I decided to share my favorite beach reads that you can simply throw in your straw bag and enjoy while getting your tan on and sipping on an ice-cold drink. Here we go:

"Ashley’s chapter on Sleep Breath has provided me with tools that’s allow this insomniac to drift off to sleep with an easy-to-practice routine."

How to Breathe - Ashley Neese

A friend gifted me this book few weeks ago as what I assume is a cautionary tale because you all know I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO BREATHE! It’s been on my night stand since with yellow highlighter all through it. Not sure if I can use most of the practices because my personality type is averted to relaxing. However, Ashley’s chapter on Sleep Breath has provided me with tools that’s allow this insomniac to drift off to sleep with an easy-to-practice routine. Everyone I know that has read it has told me that it is truly transformative because there is a chapter in there that I guarantee you’ll resonate with and find practical. It’s really hard to believe this is her debut book. Quite impressive!

City of Girls -  Elizabeth Gilbert

This one here is for the ladies! We all fell in love with Elizabeth Gilbert from her book "Eat, Pray, Love”, a memoir where she basically uproots her life to travel and eat and heal after her divorce. This is her newest book that’s sweeping the nation and rightfully so. It is a book that depicts a frenetic and adventurous time in NYC through the eyes of a 95-year old woman. I was fascinated to read about pre and post-war NYC. I read it in one day because I simply couldn't put it down! Such a fabulous read!

"This is a perfect read for anyone who owns a small business like myself. "

Start With Why - Simon Sinek

Quite difficult for me to write a review on this book from an unbiased point of view since I’ve been in love with Mr. Sinek since I watched with his viral video that I believe is still the most watched Ted Talk of all time. The book is quite amazing! This is perfect for anyone who owns a small business like myself. The Golden circle consist of the, “what," “how” and then the “why." He explained that people don’t buy what you do, they simply buy why you do it. If your value, ethos and morals aligns with your customers, you’ll certainly be successful.

Yes, Please - Amy Poehler

We all know Amy Poehler from her amazing work on SNL for years and who could forget her classic role in ‘Mean Girls?' She is described as our celebrity best friend. So, when I finally got my hand on her memoir titled “Yes, Please," I couldn’t get my hands off of it. What I love about the book is that albeit, its a memoir. She also cleverly gave advice two page spreads of advice through the books. The book felt to me like a letter from one of my best friends. Filled with montage of pictures from her life journey to hand written notes. It couldn’t have felt more personal. If you are looking for an honest, fun and light-hearted book to read, this is the book for you.

"If you’ve ever packed your bags and moved to a new city to pursue your dreams, this is the perfect book for you."

Park Avenue Summer - Renée Rosen -  Another read set in New York city.

Imagine Mad men meets Devil wears Prada. If you’ve ever packed your bags and moved to a new city to pursue your dreams, this is the perfect book for you. In 1965, Helen Gurley Brown and how she transformed Cosmopolitan magazine in an era where men had all the power. This character revolutionize cosmo magazine as we know it today. She believed in the sexual revolution and liberation of women. Vibrant, inspiring, & empowering read!

Here are the few reads I currently can’t put down and I guarantee you won’t be able neither. Which book are you currently reading? Tell me on IG. As always, thank you so much for reading and have a great weekend. :)
