THE 5 CAREER TIPS I'VE LEARNED AS A FASHION BLOGGER

Land your dream job in fashion.

Hello Everyone! Welcome to SB! Today, I am going to be sharing some secrets on how to get into the fashion industry. Let's get right into it.

You have to believe that your faith and belief will ALWAYS get you through.

1. Don’t be afraid of Failure

Fashion is for the bold and the brave. The fashion industry is a very challenging, ruthless, and ever-changing industry. You are going to fail. A LOT. This is why passion is needed to keep you motivated. You have to believe that your faith and belief will ALWAYS get you through. I have NEVER played it safe in my life and I believe that’s what’s propelled me forward. Don’t be intimidated by your lofty goals. I always believe in the saying “insane enough to do crazy things, but sane enough to pull it off."

I know most people think of fashion as indulgent, frivolous, and to put it simply “easy.” However, it is the MOST challenging career path I’ve ever taken.

2. Every Challenge is an Opportunity

I know most people think of fashion as indulgent, frivolous, and to put it simply “easy”. However, it is the MOST challenging career path I’ve ever taken. Rewarding, but challenging. What’s made it easier is thinking of every challenge as an opportunity. If I get a NO whilst chasing a campaign, I'll write the person above the person, then above that person. I won't stop till I get a YES. I let challenges excite me instead of getting me down.

3. Study hard but hustle harder

A hunger for more is essential in fashion. I love the saying “your network is your net worth”. I knew I had to study all the successful bloggers in my industry. I ALWAYS put money to the side in my paychecks to invite my mentors and anyone I admire to lunch/dinner to pick their brains. The company that you keep is the difference between success and failure in the fashion industry.

"Figure out how to create a competitive edge in your niche."

4. Find Your Niche

Yes! There is absolutely room for everybody. You simply have to find what part of the fashion industry feels the most authentic to you. Next create a genuine emotional connection that is unique and special to that passion. Finally, figure out how to create a competitive edge in your niche. There is an audience for everything.

"I post high quality and catchy daily content on schedule."

5. Take advantage of social media

Social media IS VERY IMPORTANT. I know we all have our opinions about social media. However, I built all my business on social media. Social media is so important. You have to work to start building your audience and brand. I post high quality and catchy daily content on schedule. I post 6 times a week on Instagram, once a week on the blog and 6 times a week on TikTok. Get involved in your community as well by liking other photos, and commenting on other photos- be social on social media and you'll start seeing incredible results. I have been able to parlay my social media presence into other businesses.

One bonus tip: Promote your success. No, not in a pompous, arrogant way- but promote yourself. Being successful in the fashion industry means your reputation precedes you. Don’t be afraid to share your successes on your platforms. Humans work in a pack mentality. Thus, once you work with one successful brand, another successful brand will reach out. It becomes a domino effect.
